Are you flirting with me? Don't answer that. Moving on...How do I know you?

We had a romantic encounter once in Russia, was it? Or Sudan or something...and we've been in fairly close contact ever since.

Again with the flirting! For the record, I used to watch Anode145 skateboard when I was 14. I was still a virgin, and Anode145 was "man" to me. I was captivated by his style, his smile, and his sweat. Seriosuly. Anyway...

Why did you first get into graffiti?

I had a strong feeling that graffiti was what I had to do in order to be more than just an ordinary questionless drone like so many that flood the streets and malls. Today, I question myself for thinking this.

Cmmaahhnnn Anode, you're a great skateboarder, you're arguably the best graffiti writer in Canada right now, you produce music, you have fancy cars, attractive friends, and you're brave enough to hit on me, which not many men have the guts to. I'd say that you're so far beoynd being one of those questionless drones. But I suppose that that's just my opinion. Back to the interview, though.

Let's talk about Coachella. How were you selected for inclusion in the Coachella Valley Music Festival 2005 touring exhibit entitled "TRASHed" (New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Indio)?

I just e-mailed the organizer with some sort of explanation of myself and a few pictures. When that didn't work I hopped a flight to new york with my goons. We sat down for a quick soup to plan our attack. It went like this: Two in the back, one in the front.. we come into the house swat style and hit the guy right where it hurts, while he was eating with his G.F. It didn't take long but Bruno almost barfed when he broke her arm. He had a hard time explaining how the cracking felt in his hands and he shook on the flight home, pale with guilt. All in all, we got the job done...JOB DONE. Next!

You're gross. And a Liar. Add that to your resume.

What do you think art has to do with music? Anything?

Art is a strange word. I don't think I believe in art now that artists have tarnished the idea with idiocricy. I'm not really concerned with catigorization beyond what little is needed for us to share ideas anyways. Music is the same so they have a lot in common. I like making and unmaking things, period.

Deep. So tell me, what is involved in an average day in the life of Anode145?

I like to wake up early and wash the cars, there's nothing that feels much better than heading out into the sun in a cleaned-to-the-tits car, new shoes, and an empty stomach - good music- squinty eyes. After a little drive, I hit the skatepark for a few hours until the homies wake up: answer a few calls, head uptown, paint a production with good friends while still hungry. Light food and a bit of wheel to pavement action, hopefully I can meet up with my girl while the sun is still out and the world is still a dream. Bumping into people is summertime. When the sun falls I head back to the studio and work on the never ending persuit of audio fidelity. I feed off of old memories of midnight skate sessions and the first time hearing certain albums to keep the bumps on my neck and my heart beeting. The rest is a blur.

I hate being hungry. Anyway, tell me about your experience at Coachella. What bands did you see? Where did you sleep?

Coachella was awesome! I slept in the campsite in the desert. The air is so crisp and fresh in the night time. I saw a lot of performers. It came down to making a schedule and planning the days almost to the minute to fit in seeing everyone I came to see. Looking at the linup, I remember seeing at least a bit of: Weezer, the Chemical Brothers, Wilco, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, Fantomas, Four Tet, MF Doom, Josh Wink, the Kills, Buck 65, k-os, Nine Inch Nails, Bright Eyes, Prodigy, the Faint, Roni Size, the Arcade Fire, DJ Krush, Thrice, M.I.A., Aesop Rock, Jem, Sixtoo, Diplo, Matmos, Zion-I. I'm sure that there was more. I know there was. An amazing time.

Thanks for talking with little ol' me, you know, with yer friggin busy schedule and all. Don't forget about the little people, eh?

You're a rockstar, Etienne Aida. You know that. Bye.
